The saw will ably serve any human with two hands who doesn’t mind a product that can do nearly everything a much higher-priced miter saw can do. A premium miter saw like that made by DeWalt will offer a greater range of control, but it also has the ability to cut twice as deep into one’s checkbook. Fifty and ninety degree cuts are a snap for this saw likewise for miter cuts like 41 degrees. The miter is thumb-actuated, too. The C10FCE2 is powered by a 15-amp motor and comes with a preinstalled 10-inch, 24-tooth saw blade.

The Pros

This great Saw can cut double stacked 2×4 and 2×6 planks without a hitch. This saw will also slice through a 4×4 post without hindrance. The saw blade can easily be replaced with a different blade, such as a 72-tooth blade, with tools that come with the C10FCE2. A very nice feature can be found in the saw’s elastic grip, the elastometer, which reduces vibration in an already low-vibration power tool. Also, the Saw comes with a five-year warranty. It’s a limited warranty, not a comprehensive warranty, but a warranty nonetheless.

The Cons

No piece of home improvement hardware is perfect, but sometimes some things are close enough. In spite of the fitted dust collector, fine sawdust will taint most of the saw’s nooks and crannies. This would be less of an issue if those hard-to-reach spaces where hands aren’t supposed to go weren’t coated with a very light oil. Caution must be exercised when moving the saw after a cut: no saw brake means the saw takes a few moments to come to a full stop. Finally, a laser attachment is always a bonus and in this case, it must be bought separately. For under thirty dollars, a laser guide by Irwin is compatible with this saw. These tidbits don’t affect the Saw’s effectiveness, but may prove to be mildy annoying.

Ready To Cut

The price of this amazing Saw tends to fluctuate, but not by much. The tag shouldn’t run much higher than one hundred or one hundred-fifty dollars, with tax. This is the type of convenience and expense the part-time home improvement guru waits for in a piece of gear. Given its size, portability, price, warranty and overall effectiveness, the Saw is the most practical instrument of its kind. These qualities, among others, make the Hitachi it a pleasure to wield.
